A 14-mile two-lane portion of the Bella Vista bypass is under way, partially funded from the 10-year, ½ cent sales tax for highways approved by Arkansas voters on 11/6/12. The Bella Vista bypass is designed to be four lanes It will become a part of I-49 when additional funding is obtained and the other two lanes are built. The new highway tax is also helping to expand I-540 to six lanes between Fayetteville and Bentonville; I-540 will become a part of I-49.
